  • Engage with guests to ensure their stay is going well
  • Work as a team to enhance the guests experience
  • Maintain an active presence around the recreational areas, ensuring cleanliness and guest satisfaction
  • Work closely with housekeeping to ensure towels are clean and readily available
  • Check in arriving guests to the area, helping them to identify as hotel/resort guests and to find available recreation options for them
  • Clean all areas in the prescribed manner while following department standard operating procedures
  • Set-up and break down the recreational areas to ensure a successful day
  • Remove soiled linen and trash from all service areas and take to appropriate locations in the prescribed manner
  • Always respond in a friendly, helpful manner to guests and other team members
  • Oversee and supervise laundry staff, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure they perform their duties efficiently and adhere to hotel policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels for laundry supplies and equipment, and coordinate with the procurement department for timely replenishment.
  • Ensure all laundry equipment is in good working condition and coordinate with the maintenance team to address any repair or maintenance needs.
  • Implement and enforce proper laundry procedures, including sorting, washing, drying, folding, and pressing, to achieve high-quality standards.
  • Regularly inspect the laundry process to ensure quality control and resolve any issues related to cleanliness, stains, and damage.
  • Collaborate with the Housekeeping and Front Office departments to meet guest requests and resolve any laundry-related guest concerns promptly.
  • Keep accurate records of laundry production, including the number of items processed, linen inventory, and maintenance reports.
  • Implement cost-control measures to minimize laundry expenses while maintaining quality service.
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations and maintain a clean and safe working environment for laundry staff.
  • Stay updated on the latest laundry technologies, best practices, and industry trends to suggest process improvements and innovations.
  • Proven experience in a supervisory role within a laundry or housekeeping department, preferably in a hotel or hospitality setting.
  • Knowledge of laundry operations, including various fabrics, detergents, and laundry equipment.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to effectively manage a team and collaborate with other departments.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure laundry tasks are completed accurately and efficiently.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Understanding of health and safety regulations related to laundry operations.
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays, as required by the business demands.
  • To assume responsibility for all activities in the hotel in the absence of executive management.
  • To be fully aware of all activity within the hotel on a day to day basis.
  • To monitor the operation of all departments to ensure all operating standards are maintained.
  • To ensure that all public and back of house areas are maintained to the specified levels of cleanliness, maintenance, and presentation and to instigate appropriate action if this is not achieved.
  • To assist in maintaining a high level of security for both guest and hotel property.
  • To be fully conversant with all emergency procedures and pertinent local legislation.

  • To meet, greet, escort and bid farewell to all VIP guests and endeavour to meet as many return guests on arrival and escort them to their room.
  • To effectively and efficiently handle and resolve all guests’ complaints and problems in all areas of the hotel.
  • To pass on the comments, suggestions and recommendations of guests to department heads and the executive committee.
  • To ensure an accurate log is kept of all incidents of note occurring.
  • To be fully conversant with the hotel credit policies and to monitor all guests accounts in the absence of the credit manager.
  • To operationally assist all departments as may be required.
  • To ensure active and effective communication between all departments during the night and between the night shift staff and the day staff.
  • To carry out performance appraisals for all night front office staff.
  • To ensure regular inspections of all hotel areas are done at least once every evening.
  • To be fully trained in assistant duty manager duties and fully understand the hotel policies and procedures specially licensing laws.
  • Keep up to date with hotel emergency procedures.
  • Be aware of hotels outside contractors’ specifications i.e. pest control, carpet maintenance or window cleaning.
  • To organise on a quarterly basis the “early bird” meeting for all night staff and executive management
  • To ensure that the daily sheet is prepared with all relevant and correct information, ready for the first morning shift.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in residential property management
  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as Business Administration or Hospitality Management
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage a diverse team of employees
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively
  • A solid understanding of financial analysis and accounting principles
