  • The Paramedic will utilize their knowledge and proficiency of evidenced-based medical practice and Intl.SOS protocols to manage unexpected and emergent situations and treat a variety of injuries and illnesses in a prompt and professional manner.
  • The Paramedic will assume responsibility for assessing, planning,implementing, and evaluating direct and indirect medical care to patients in emergent situations.
  • She/ he will competently function as a member of the team to provide patient centred medical care in the pre-hospital setting.
  • Provides 24/7 365 emergent EMS response on the site.
  • Provide paramedicine pre-hospital support to patients within the site, outside the site, and during transfer
  • to local higher levels of care.
  • Ambulance operations, EMS response and the subsequent support of the medical team within the clinic
  • are the primary responsibilities
  • Assist medical providers with medical procedures and treatments as allowed within licensed scope of
  • The EMT will utilize their knowledge and proficiency of evidenced-based medical practice and Intl.SOS
  • protocols to manage unexpected and emergent situations and treat a variety of injuries and illnesses in a
  • prompt and professional manner. The EMT will support the provision of direct and indirect medical care to
  • patients in emergent situations and will competently function as a member of the team to provide patient
  • centred medical care in the pre-hospital setting.
  • Provide pre-hospital emergency medical care of simple and multiple system traumas.
  • Assist the Paramedic in determining the nature and extent of illness or injury and establishing priorities for required emergency care.
  • Assist the Paramedic in rendering emergency medical care to all patients.
  • Operate all emergency vehicles as the primary driver with due diligence for the safety of others.
  • Restocking EMS units once supplies are received as well as assisting other clinic operators with restocking
  • Maintains equipment, tools, and protective clothing in a serviceable ready-response condition
  • Performs other duties and assignments as required
  • Required Skills and Knowledge
  • Ability to assess adult and pediatric patients in pre-hospital setting.
  • Ability to successfully perform BLS interventions in accordance with protocols
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Proficient IT skills including use of electronic medical records systems
  • Essential Capabilities
  • Ability to function with accuracy and efficiency in high pressure or emergent situations.
  • Ability to respond calmly in emergency situations.
  • Cultural sensitivity and awareness with the willingness to work with a foreign national patient population
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to effectively work with persons of diverse age and economic background in a culturally competent manner.
  • Must be able to manage and provide concise directions to supporting staff.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing work conditions and responsibilities
  • Required Work Experience
  • Minimum of 1 year of EMT experience in a busy 911 system
  • Experience in a remote setting is preferred
  • Prior military or fire experience preferred
  • Possession of a EMT Level Certification from National Registry (NREMT) – Required
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) – Required
  • A valid passport is required and must be in your possession prior to deploying.
  • To be considered for the position, you must have at least 18 months left on your passport before renewal.
  • You must also maintain that passport during your stay.
  • The EMS Training Officer is responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating the training programs for EMS personnel. 
  • This role ensures that all EMS staff are adequately prepared to provide high-quality emergency medical services in accordance with current medical protocols and standards.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor a comprehensive EMS training program that meets the needs of the department and complies with national and contractual standards.
  • Conduct weekly training sessions, workshops, and simulations to ensure all EMS personnel maintain high levels of competency in medical procedures, equipment operation, and emergency response techniques.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through assessments, feedback, and performance data; adjust training strategies as needed to improve outcomes.
  • Maintain current knowledge of best practices in emergency medical services, including innovations in medical care, training methodologies, and relevant legislation.
  • Collaborate with the EMS Chief and Deputy Chief to identify training needs and prioritize training initiatives.
  • Oversee the certification and recertification processes for all EMS personnel, ensuring compliance with national and international regulatory requirements.
  • Manage the EMS training budget, including the procurement of training materials and equipment.
  • Serve as a mentor and resource for EMS personnel, providing guidance and support to foster professional growth and development.
  • Participate in quality assurance and improvement activities to enhance the overall effectiveness of EMS services.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the EMS Chief and Deputy Chief.
  • Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Medical Services, Education, or related field.
  • Current certification as a Nationally Registered Paramedic, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in emergency medical services and 2 years of experience in EMS Education.
  • Proven experience in designing and delivering EMS training programs.
  • Preferred instructor certifications: American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS), and Advanced Medical Life Support (AMLS).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications relevant to training development and delivery.
