- The Operations Manager provides oversight and management for OCONUS operations. Assists with directing, and developing logistics management operations that involve planning, coordinating, and/or evaluating the logistical actions required to support a specified mission, equipment system, or other designated program. Supervises all support resources for the performance of project assignments and activities for successful completion and performance consistent with contractual agreements. The work involves identifying the specific requirements for manpower, material and services needed to support the program and correlating those requirements with program plans to assure required support is provided at the right time and place. Logistics work requires knowledge and use of Global Combat Services Support System (GCSS), Logistics Modernization Plan (LMP), Modification Management Information System (MMIS) Maintenance Operations and Supply Chain Management. Must have broad knowledge of the organization and the activities involved in providing logistical support, with ability to coordinate and evaluate the efforts of subordinate organizations.
- Monitors, analyzes, and evaluates maintenance and logistics programs for supported organizations in OCONUS locations.
- Serves as the subject matter expert for all logistics operations
- Provides maintenance and logistics oversight in support of US Army/US land forces areas of responsibility.
- Oversees maintenance and supply procedures, gathers and analyzes data, identifies strengths and weaknesses of current processes, and aids in the development of cost-efficient solutions to optimize overall operations
- Coordinates with forward-deployed units to identify logistical support requirements specific to mission unit AOR
- Performs research and analysis to identify the best logistics practices
- Oversees GCSS-A, MMIS and LMP at the strategic and operational level
- Monitors progress toward meeting the logistics plan and to identify the cause and impact of delays or other problems
- Assists in the design, development, and disposal of material.
- Maintains the Product Directors Forward Deployed Hand Receipt.
- 10+ years of qualified experience and a Master’s degree in a related field (OR) 12+ years of qualified experience and Bachelor’s degree in a related field (OR) 20+ years of qualified experience
- Experience with integrated logistics programs, computerized maintenance management systems, Standard Army Maintenance System-Enhanced (SAMS-E) and Global Combat Support System-Army (GCSS-Army)
- Proven work experience as operations manager within the automotive or defense industry
- Adequate knowledge of organizational effectiveness and operations management
- Budget development and oversight experience
- Familiarity with business and financial principles and practices
- Working knowledge of budgets, forecasting and metrics
- Basic IT skills (databases, MS Office etc)
- Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
- Leadership and organizational skills
- Familiarity with Quality Assurance processes, and quality monitoring
- Familiarity with commercial and/or military warehousing practices
- Familiarity with recruiting, training and supervision from a Human Resources perspective.
- Proven communicator in verbal and written disciplines to include basic computer skills and document preparation.
- Willingness to accept both temporary and permanent CONUS & OCONUS transfers to other assignments if needed.
- Ability to deploy to risky hostile (“war zone”) environments if required.
- Ability to successfully pass a Pre-Employment Drug Screening.
- Ability to meet the government deployment physical requirements, if needed.
- Must have an active (DoD) Secret clearance.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to balance, bend, carry, crouch, stretch and knee.
- Must be able to push, pull, and reach.
- Must be able to work with computers and CRTs, and type on a computer keyboard.
