In 1963, Dar Al Shifa Hospital (DASH) was established as the first private hospital in the State of Kuwait. Originally, it was a maternity hospital located in Sharq, Kuwait city. Since that time, the hospital became a leading healthcare organization in the region.

Main Duties and Responsibilities/Performance Standards

  • Prepares work schedules, assign personnel, evaluates work performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions
  • Ensures that the units complies with established policies, quality assurance programs, safety environmental and infection control policies & procedures
  • Coordinates with medical, nursing and accounting staff to ensure appropriate placement of patients and compliance with third party payers and other regulations
  • Familiarizes with the pricing and explain the financial liabilities to the patients.
  • Act as the key Counselor for patients and families regarding financial issues such as insurance, eligibility for assistance and verify insurance coverage with insurance companies.
  • Supervise the provision of accurate information to patients on such matters as the scope of the health care treatment services provided by The New Dar Al-Shifa.
  • Ensure customer delight to patients and the day-to-day supervision of the reception staff. Responsible for scheduling staff and shift coverage to ensure reception and administrative duties are accomplished. Provide reception coverage when needed including when there are staff shortages, train and evaluate job performance of the outpatient team.
  • Provide training and otherwise assure that outpatient staff members are properly trained in their duties including but not limited to maintaining current registration process and billing practices
  •  Familiarized with the billing and explain the financial liabilities to the patients.

  • Certification in Healthcare Quality Management (e.g., CPHQ) and/or Accreditation (e.g., Certified Professional in Healthcare Accreditation) is highly desirable.

  • Responsible for the installation and maintenance of plumbing, piping and other equipment at all buildings owned and operated by the Hospital.
  • Installs, maintains, tests, and repairs hot water heating system, boilers, septic systems, drains, sewage pump stations, water systems, sinks, piping, kitchen drains, various types of plumbing fixtures, along with other plumbing and mechanical machinery and utility systems;
  • Carries out emergency, planned and preventative maintenance on all assigned equipment of the hospital. Responds to emergency calls that are a result of mechanical/plumbing failure both during and after regular hours of work;
  • Ensures that all work is done according to standard plumbing practices.
  • Keeps appropriate records including complete equipment repair history, work orders, test reports, and other related data;
  • Determines sufficient material stock. Informs the Supervisor for ordering of supplies and replacement parts.

  • Venipuncture and blood collection
  • Provides appropriate containers for non-blood samples (as urine, stool, semen) to the clients
  • Conforms to laboratory’s policies and procedures for collection and handling of specimens, including proper patient identification, labeling, matching requested with invoiced tests, safety and waste disposal, in addition to infection control measures
  • Immediately transfers collected samples to data-entry desk
  • Answers inquiries related to test requisitions,sample types and volumes and patient preparation requirements
  • Secures respective consents from patient, whenever required
  • Participates in sample collection from home
  • Organizes phlebotomy rooms and organization and refilling of phlebotomy table
