The Assistant Chief Engineer is responsible for overseeing the hotel’s engineering and maintenance operations to ensure a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained environment for guests and staff. This role includes planning, project management, budgeting, and leading a team of skilled professionals.

Leadership

• Provide guidance and leadership to the engineering and maintenance team.
• Develop and implement departmental policies, procedures, and standards.
• Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.

Project Management

• Oversee and manage renovation projects within the hotel.
• Develop and manage budgets for engineering and maintenance projects.

Maintenance and Repairs

• Implement preventive maintenance programs for all equipment and facilities.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies.
• Coordinate with external contractors for specialized repairs.

Quality Assurance

• Ensure the hotel meets or exceeds all safety and environmental regulations.
• Conduct regular inspections to identify areas requiring maintenance or improvement.

Energy Management

• Implement energy-efficient practices to reduce operational costs.
• Evaluate and recommend new technologies for energy conservation.

Staff Development

• Recruit, train, and supervise engineering and maintenance staff.
• Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
• Develop training programs to enhance team skills.

Budget Management

• Prepare and manage the departmental budget.
• Control costs while maintaining high-quality standards.

Collaboration

• Work closely with other departments to ensure seamless hotel operations.
• Collaborate with the purchasing department to source materials and equipment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
• Proven experience in a similar role within the luxury hospitality industry.
• Strong leadership and managerial skills.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities.
• Knowledge of building systems, codes, health & safety regulations.
• Familiarity with energy management practices.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
