Al-Tuhoo General Trading & Contracting Co. was started by 2 brothers in Kuwait in the early 1950s as suppliers for foodstuffs, mainly in the areas of canned food and beverages. The company was originally registered with the Ministry of Commerce in 1956. ↔️
After doing successful business, it was time to expand and since the business was already dealing throughout the gulf, they had enough resources to take it one step further. The two brothers then tasked themselves on bringing tea from abroad to the country for the first time and were one of the first companies to ever import tea to Kuwait.
As any successful business, when it sees success and prosperity, the only way it goes is up and expands. In the year 1970, the company widened its horizon from just the food industry, they expanded into real estate, construction and trading building materials. This also aided the company in its physical expansion as more place was needed due to the increase in supply.
Hameed and Mohammed Ali Altuhoo Co. was being run by the successors of those two brothers until the end of 2016 at which the successors of Mohammad Ali Altuhoo assumed charge of the company with the new name “AL-TUHOO GENERAL TRADING & CONTRACTING CO.” .
The company now is one of the major players in the construction materials industry in Kuwait with imports coming in from top brands from Germany, England, Italy, Korea, China, Taiwan, Switzerland, and the list goes on and on… The company is now representative for many major international brands in Kuwait like Pattex-Henkel, Polybit, Kendo, Interway, Bartoline, Omya International, Best Business, Kanat, MTP, Pennelli Oscar, Pennellificio 2000, Gale Pacific etc. The company is also importing tea from Sri Lanka and India and has recently acquired some of the top franchises in the tea industry in the world such as Premier Tea and Golden Arrow-Finlays to add to its portfolio and will continue on becoming bigger and better every day.
